Generating rotations

How the rotation matrix is built — fairness, position preferences, the three views.

Once players are imported, GameStats builds a rotation matrix that:

  • Distributes court time fairly across all bibs/groups
  • Honours position preferences — players are slotted into their preferred positions where possible
  • Flags position mismatches — if there aren't enough natural shooters in a bib, you'll see a warning before locking it in

Three views of the same rotation

  • Card view — best on tablets; one card per game showing the seven players in each bib
  • Matrix view — spreadsheet-style grid (player rows × game columns); good for printing
  • Fairness summary — minutes per player, position spread, group balance — confirms at a glance that everyone gets a fair go

Manual swaps: Tap any player in the matrix → Swap → pick a replacement. The rotation re-balances as you go.

⚠️ Watch out

Lock the rotation before trial day to prevent accidental edits during voting.
